Love Where You're From -- Ohio

I've had a lot of mixed feelings about living in Ohio, but I try to focus on the positives.

You can buy this design as a print, poster, t-shirt, coffee mug, laptop case, phone case and probably some other things too. Check it all out on my society6 shop.

The Final Frontier

The final frontier isn't the infinity out there, but the infinity within ourselves.

Geometric Elephant

What's your spirit animal? Some people feel a connection with elephants, the gentle giants. They are hard to get moving, but even harder to stop once they get going. They're kind and caring, but they never forget.

You can buy this design as a print, poster, t-shirt, coffee mug, laptop case, phone case and probably some other things too. Check it all out on my society6 shop.

Hawkeye Update

I noticed some of my prints were looking a little old and could use a refresh. I tried to make the pose more dynamic, the proportions better, and the colors bolder.

Black Panther

I think the king of Wakanda deserves his own poster. This print will be debuting at the Cincy ComiCon this September along with Captain Marvel and Bebop and Rocksteady.

8.27.2016

Captain Marvel

I'm happy to see Marvel is pushing Captain Marvel to be more of a flagship character. We need more cool female superheroes and, well, her name is kind of perfect.

Bebop and Rocksteady

Here it is -- my first finished piece using Manga Studio and a Cintiq! I've always loved Bebop and Rocksteady and have thought about adding them as an available print for conventions so I thought they would be a fun first project. It took some time but I'm feeling pretty comfortable with my process and I'm proud to have this design in my collection. Now I just have to work on being faster!

Learning Curve

I recently got a Cintiq to help improve my art flow. I've had other Wacom tablets that I loved, but felt like this would be the next big step to increase my speed and accuracy. I've also been trying to learn Manga Studio after hearing other illustrators say it's much more natural than Photoshop and better for making comics ...more on that later. Playing around with new software and hardware gave a lot to learn at once, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. This sketch of Bebop and Rocksteady was the first real mile marker toward where I want to go. Sure it's rough and loose, but I'll share the finished design soon.

Favorite Spreads Summer 2016

Here's a look at some of my favorite spreads from the Summer 2016 edition of the print magazine.

Infographic: Lake Erie

Lake Erie has a history of algae trouble. This infographic shows some notable algal blooms as well as some lake facts that help explain why this Great Lake is so easily affected.

Infographic: Carbon Emissions

Taking a look at global carbon emissions, historic levels, and plans for the future.

Infographic: El Nino

This infographic takes a closer look at El Nino and La Nina. While it's difficult to predict when they will occur, we can at least take a look at their history and learn what we can.

Infographic: Rising Temperatures

Temperatures are on the rise and have been for a while. This infographic takes a closer look at record temps, hot years, cold years, and if trends look like they'll continue.

Slimer

I ain't afraid of no ghosts.

I drew this a while ago and always liked the sketch. With the new movie coming it, it seemed like the time to bring him back to life.

Civil War

I've had the idea to incorporate some character quotes into drawings for a while, but it was an idea I left on the back burner. When I rewatched all of the MCU movies for BringOnUltron, I noticed there were a lot of great quotes that really captured the essence of the characters. This spring, with Civil War coming out, I figured it was time to finally put those designs together. I went with Dr. Erskine's quote from Captain America: The First Avenger to sum up Cap -- "Not a perfect soldier, but a good man" -- and Tony Stark's description of himself from Avengers -- "Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist." There's a good chance I'll make more of these, so stay tuned!

I'll be making prints of these designs, but you can also grab them as t-shirts. Click here if you're Team Cap or here if you're Team Iron Man.

TMNT Elements

Here's the final group of elements all of these recent TMNT posts have been leading to. I wanted to make a big image of all of the little things that I love about the Ninja Turtles universe -- the turtles, the bad guys, the vehicles, the weapons, the pizza...

I may do some more 'elements' images, but this was a challenging and time consuming project. Thanks to everyone who kept up with me throughout the process.

TMNT Faces - More Elements

Trying to broaden my reach from just faces into more of the elements that make up the TMNT world. Baxter was a tricky one for me to try and balance between his iconic 90s cartoon design and his more modern interpretations. His mousers on the other hand are pretty similar across the board.

3.08.2016

TMNT Faces - Friends

I like that the Nickelodeon versions of April and Casey are teenagers like the turtles, but my first thought for them is still the classic designs. That's definitely where my designs lean for them, whereas when I tried to combine looks for Splinter, he ended up looking more like the current cartoon version.

Love Never Dies

This is a design I've had rolling around in my head for a while now, but with Valentine's day right around the corner it seemed like the right time to hammer it out.

Love never dies. Love is eternal. Love is forever.

You can buy this design as a print, poster, t-shirt, coffee mug, laptop case, phone case and probably some other things too. Check it all out on my society6 shop.

TMNT Faces - Bad Guys

Continuing my series of TMNT faces. Here are some of my favorite bad guys. I was still trying to pull in bits of every incarnation of these guys across movies, cartoons, and comics. As much as I love the current Nickelodeon cartoon, my versions of the villains have a lot more influence from older cartoons.

1.31.2016

Geometric Hawk

I've wanted to add a bird to my spirit animal series for a while now, but I've always found birds difficult to draw. I forced myself to stick with it and figure it out and it actually wasn't too bad once I started really looking at their wings. This design probably has the most polygons in it so far, surpassing even the lion.

You can buy this design as a print, poster, t-shirt, coffee mug, laptop case, phone case and probably some other things too. Check it all out on my society6 shop.

1.17.2016

Jurassic World

I had a few commissions pop up at the end of last year, including three from one fan I met at a convention in September. As a Christmas gift for his daughter, he asked me to draw her swooning over Owen from Jurassic World as they ride his bike with the raptor squad. This was tricky to figure out (I really don't like drawing vehicles) but it was a a fun piece and we all loved the way it turned out.

1.06.2016

Teenage Mutant Ninja Faces

This is a little part of a bigger project. I still have a long way to go, but this is a good place to start. These are heavily influenced by the Nickelodeon designs because those are some of my favorites. I want this project to incorporate design queues from the new cartoon, the old cartoon, the comics and movies... plus they need to have my signature added in. Expect to see more from this series soon.
